How to Set a Patient Appointment to Short Call
- Navigate to the Scheduler.
- Click on the Appointment tile that you wish to add to the Short Call list.
- Under the Appointment Details section, scroll down and set the Set Short Call option to Yes.
- Click Save.
Adding a Patient to a Short Call
There are two ways to add a patient to a short call - Patient Overview and Short Call List.
Lists
- Hover over Lists > select Short Call.
From the Short Call Queue:
- Click +Add Patient on the top right.
Patient Overview
- Select a patient using the Global Search bar.
- Click Mark for Short Call from the Patient Overview.
On the 'Add Patients to Short Call List' popup:
- Select the desired Patient.
- Choose the Location, Provider, Production Type, and Operatory.
Note: You will see the Location automatically populated. You can change the location if required. Ensure to input the Preferred Slot before proceeding. |
- Click Save.
- A notification will appear on the top right stating, 'Shortcall added successfully.'
- Simultaneously, the entered patient details will appear at the bottom of the Short Call List.
Book an Appointment from Short Call Queue
To book an appointment from the Short Call Queue:

Select the desired item from the list.
- Click Book Appt. (Book Appointment).
- You will be directed to the Scheduler where you can decide the time slot for the appointment.
- Once the time is decided, drag onto the scheduler slots to select the time duration of the appointment for the selected patient.
- Once the desired option is selected, the Appointment Slide-out will be displayed.
- Verify the details and click Save when you are ready to proceed.
Actions on the Short Call List
Let's explore the different actions on the short call list.
- Delete: Select one or more short calls and click this option to delete,
- Clear Queue: Click this option to clear the short call queue.
- Print: To take a printout of the shot call queue. The printout will be generated with the information displayed in the same order with the applied filter and sort criteria.
- Download: Click this drop down to download the list in PDF or CSV format as needed.
- Send Message: Select the required short call items and click this drop-down to send a text or email.
Once you have selected Text or Email to send a message to the patient,
- You can enter the message from scratch. Or,
- Select a saved template from the left.
- To change the name of the template, click on the pencil icon.
- Click Delete to remove the text or email template.
- Once done, you can update the existing template or save as a new one.
- To save the current changes to the existing template, click the Save drop-down and select Save Changes.
- To save as a new template, select Save as New option.
- Click Send Email or Send Text.
Line level actions of a reschedule item when clicking on the three-dotted menu:
- Find Slot: Click this option to find a slot for the rescheduled item
- Go to Chart: Click this option to navigate to the patient's chart.
- Send Text: Click this option to send a text message.
- Send Email: Click this option to send a email.
- Delete: Click this option to delete the line item.
Enable Permissions to Clear Short Call Queue
Here is what you need to do, if you would like to use permissions to clear the queue.
- Navigate to the System Menu > select Practice Settings > Administration > Profiles.
- Click on the appropriate profile to select Manage Permissions.
- Select Scheduling.
- Checkmark the Ability to Clear Queue permission under Lists to set it as active.
