Navigate to Patient Overview
Watch this video for a step-by-step explanation.
- Search for the patient using the Global Search bar.
- Click Overview.
- The Patient Overview page will appear.
Patient Profile Navigation Bar
Located on the left side of the patient's profile is the navigation bar listing the links that will take you through the records of the patient.
- Menu: Clicking this icon will open the patient menu containing links for the most commonly utilised actions.
- Overview: Clicking this icon will take you back to the patient's overview page.
- Med. Alert (Medical Alert): Click this icon to view allergies, conditions, and current medications tagged to this patient (via the answers provided on their medical history form).
- Clinical: Hover over this icon to access a sub-menu of sections related to this patient's clinical care. This includes Chart, Treatment Planner, Perio Chart, Treatment History, Referrals, and Implant Tracker.
- Cases: Click this icon to view and manage all clinical cases of the patient.
- Billing: Hover over this icon to access a sub-menu of items related to this patient's financial status. This includes Ledger, Completed Procedures, Payments, Ortho Cases, Pre-Authorizations, Claims, Migrated Transactions, System Transactions, Statements, and Membership Plans.
- Appts. (Appointments): Hover over this icon to access a sub-menu of sections related to this patient's previous or upcoming visits. This section includes Appointments, Lab Cases, and Recalls.
- Pat. Alert (Patient Alert): Clicking this icon will open the Alerts module, where you can view, add, edit, and delete any pop-up alerts for this patient.
- Memo: Clicking this icon will take you to the Notes section of this patient's profile, where you can view existing patient notes (general notes, notes regarding communication, notes regarding appointments, etc.), add comments to the notes, or create a new note.
- Docs.: Clicking this icon will open the Patient Documents module, where you can view and upload any necessary documents regarding this patient.
- Med. Hx. (Medical History): Clicking this icon will take you to the Medical History Form page, where you can view any previously provided medical history answers or start a new Med. Hx form.
- Steri.log (Sterilisation Log): Clicking this icon takes you to the sterilisation log page, where you can view details of added sterilisation or add a new sterilisation
- Inbox: Displays the correspondence with the patient.
Action Quick Links
At the top of the Patient Overview page, you can see some quick links that allow you to add items such as a new patient, a new form, etc. They are listed below.
- +Patient: Click this link to create a profile for a new patient.
- +Alert: Click this link to create a pop-up alert for this patient (and set the pages in which the alert should appear).
- +Form: Click this link to start a new form for this patient.
- +Presc. (Prescription): Click this link to open this patient's Prescription module, where you can view their current medications and prescription history and create a new prescription (this module also lists the patient's allergies and conditions).
- +Memo: Click this link to quickly add a new patient note. (Hint: this feature now lets you add an attachment to your patient note!)
- +Lab: Click this link to create a new lab case for this patient.
- +Recall: Click this link to create a new recall code to be scheduled for this patient.
- +Message: Click this link to quickly send an email or text message to your patient. To add attachments to an email, drag and drop the intended file(s) or click Browse Files. Accepted file types are .doc, .pdf, .jpeg, .jpg, and .png, with a maximum acceptable file size of up to 20 MB.
- Print: Click this link to open the Print module, which allows you to select the types of records and information you would like to print regarding this patient.
Navigation Quick Links
The patient overview page also provides some quick links to navigate around important areas of the system to see the patient's information in those areas. They are listed below.
- Find Slot: Click this quick link to open the Scheduler slot finder and schedule an upcoming appointment for this patient.
- Appointments: Click this quick link to be taken to the Appointments page and view appointments for all account members.
- Add to Clipboard: Click this quick link to add a preset appointment to the Clipboard.
- Chart: As the name states, this link will take you to the patient's dental chart.
- Perio Chart: As the name states, this link will take you to the patient's perio chart.
- Tx Plan (Treatment Plan): Click this link to be taken to the patient's advanced treatment planner.
- Mark for Short Call: Click this link to add the selected patient for a short call.
- Payments: Clicking this link will open the patient's Payments module, where you can add, allocate, or view the patient's payments or payment plans.
- Claims: Clicking this link will take you to the patient's Claims page where you can view, generate, edit, and submit insurance claims regarding this patient's treatment.
- Ledger: This link will take you to the patient's ledger, as well as the ledger for the entire account.
- Memo: Click this link to open this patient's Notes module (This is general patient notes, not clinical notes).
- Check Patient Portal Status: Click this option to check the patient portal status.
- Send Patient Portal Link: Click this option to send the patient portal link to the patient via email.
Patient Details

On the Patient Top Card, you will find the following patient details:
- Patient Name
- Photo
- Date of Birth
- Age
- Gender
- Patient ID
- Chart Number
- Driver's License #
- Patient Flags
Actions on the Patient Top Card include:
- Edit Info: Click this option to update patient information.
- Ref. Sources (Referral Sources): Click this option to view all the referral sources of the patient.
- Archived Patient(s): Click this option to view all archived duplicate patients of the selected profile.
- Check for Duplicate Patients: Click this to check for any duplicate patient profiles with similar information. Click here to learn more.
Additionally, you will find the following patient details in the Patient Overview page:
- Default Location / Dentist / Hygienist / Fee Schedule
- Patient Contact Information
- Insurance Details
- Authorised Contact
- Patient Emergency Contact
- Facility Information
- Additional Information including General Practitioner, Preferred Language, and Preferred Provider Gender.
Tip: You can update the patient's communication mode anytime from the Patient Overview. Click Add for Mobile or Email, and in the modal that appears, enable Email Notifications, Reminders, or Marketing Emails as needed. |
Action(s) Required
This section alerts you to any areas that need your attention, such as in the following instances:
- Documents Pending: Click this link to view any pending documents that need to be finalised.
- Med. Hx. Pat. Sign Pending (Medical History Patient Signature Pending): Click this link to be taken to the Medical History page and start a new form.
- Recall Unscheduled: Click this link to open the scheduler (with the relevant Provider and Location selected) to schedule the patient's pending recall.
- Book Next Appointment: Click this link to open the scheduler and schedule an upcoming appointment.
Medical Alerts
- This section displays the Conditions, Allergies, and Current Medications of the patient.
Membership Plans
- This section displays all of the patient's membership plans.
Account Summary
The account summary provides account-related information as shown below.
- The name of the account member.
- Their relationship to the Responsible Party of this account.
- The account member's age and date of birth.
- The date of their last appointment.
- The date of their Next Appointment.
- Any unscheduled recalls.
- Unapplied Credits of the patient.
- Any outstanding balances that are owed by the patient and expected from their insurance carrier.

Tip: If the patient does not have a scheduled follow-up appointment, click No next appt.(Appointment) hyperlink to open the scheduler and book the next available appointment. Click here to know more about booking appointments. |
